Day Four
Today, let’s focus on another of the five senses - our ability to taste.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN…
Grab your phone and put it in airplane mode.
Now, get in a comfortable posture.
SET A TIMER FOR 10 MINUTES
SLOWLY READ
Psalm 34:8 (NIV)
“Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
NOW, LET’S BREATHE
Close your eyes and take five deep breaths.
Breath in through your nose, hold it for 4 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Don’t rush, patiently breathe.
INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.
Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to you.
When you are ready, invite God into this moment with a simple prayer.
“God, you are good and I take refuge in you.”
SIT IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Don’t rush. Keep breathing. Begin to notice what you taste right now.
What flavors are on your tongue?
Are they sour or sweet? Bitter or savory?
Do you enjoy what you taste right now?
OFFER A PRAYER TO GOD
“God, I am blessed by being in your presence. I taste and see that you are good. ”
Repeat as often as needed.
TIMES UP
When the timer goes off, share with God one thing you are grateful for at this moment.
Finally, grab your journal and write down a few sentences about what it felt like to settle.
